My name is Jeff Barton. I have one sister and brother. I am the oldest of my siblings. I graduated from Tidioute High School in 1993 and joined the United States Army as an armor crewmen. I served in Friedberg, Germany for three years. I then enrolled at Slippery Rock University in 1996 and joined the Army National Guard. I graduated from Slippery Rock University in 2000 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education History. I also earned a minor in leadership. As part of the SRU ROTC program, I was commission as a second lieutenant in the US Army National Guard.
In 2002, I was deployed to Vicenza, Italy for six months as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2004, I was deployed to Bayji, Iraq for a year as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom IV. In 2007, I began working at a private residential treatment center for troubled youth at Abraxas I. I am currently still working there now. While at Abraxas I, I have been an education counselor as well as ninth and tenth grade history teacher. I am now currently a drug and alcohol counselor for the Abraxas Intensive Drug and Alcohol program. In 2015, I enrolled at the University of Maryland University College to peruse an online Master’s Degree in Distance Education and E-Learning.
